Bands who
played at Phoenix Rising on 1st October 2000

If you haven't yet heard of KICK, arguably the
UK's fastest-rising rock band, then quite honestly, where have you been hiding?
Their debut album, 'Consider this....' was released in Japan, Europe and the UK
to critical acclaim in Kerrang!, Metal Hammer and numerous other rock magazines
during the summer of 1999. They have also been voted in the top ten bands to
look out for this year in Japan's Burrn! magazine.
In 1999, they toured with Hard Rain and German 80s band,
Bonfire, before taking the stage as support to the sadly departed,
Thunder, in December. They have succeeded in turning many an ear to their own
brand of melodic hard rock and are now considered to be one of Britain's
premier live rock bands.
Their much-awaited second album, 'Sweet lick of
fire' will be released in the autumn and is set to confirm them as a
contemporary band, but playing the kind of music that secured stadium status
for Def Leppard, Guns 'n' Roses and Aerosmith.
In lead vocalist, Nick Workman, they have one of
the best front men this country has produced in many a year! His voice has a
quality that combines power, melody and a range to die for! However, it is
in the strength and depth of material that gives Nick the platform to shine.
Mikey J. (bass) and Chris
Jones (guitar) formed KICK with Nick in January 1998 and were signed to Iron
Maiden main-main, Steve Harris's own label at Beast Records (now Sanctuary
Records) in July 1998. Olli Cunningham and Benjy Reid complete the line-up on
keyboards and drums respectively.
Surely, it is only a matter
of time before KICK is a household name!
If you still have any
doubts, then check them out for yourself and see them as special guests to
Vaughn at Manchester Rock World on Sunday, October 1st 2000!
